Electro-Optical Perovskites

Perovskites are very popular in novel electrical and magnetic devices, and combinations of these as well. However, most growth tecniques for these oxides are slow in order to obtain epitaxial films. Our group has recently develped a rapid growth technique to enable electro-optical perovskite films that are thick enough to support optical modes. These films are therefore excellent for monolithically-integrated ultrafast modulators.  Image below is Andy Block, aka Dr. Block, next to our sputtering system which enables rapid growth of BaSrTiO3.
