Prof. Beth Stadler and PhD students Daniel Shore and Karthik Srinivasan attended the MMM 2017 at Pittsburgh, PA from 11/6/2017-11/10/2017. A total of 3 talks were given by the group, Prof. Stadler and Karthik spoke on Si-integration of nonreciprocal (magnetic) optical materials and Daniel spoke about magnetic biomarkers for hyperthermia and MRI contrast. Furthermore, Prof. Stadler also chaired the session on Biomagnetic Applications and visited the Carnegie Mellon University.

Our collaborators at NIST in Gaithersburg (Alex Grutter, Kathryn Krycka and Julie Borchers) have recently published their small angle neutron scattering results in which they found long range 3D correlated magnetic structures in our arrays of 35nm diameter FeGe-Cu nanowires.  Lena Tartakovskaya from Kiev National University explained the behavior with modeling and Arturo Ponce from UT San Antonio measured the physical dimensions of the nanowires with TEM.  Thanks to Madhukar Reddy from our group for his nanowires too!

Congratulations to our collaborators in Texas who just published in J Materials Chemistry C their work on TEM hologaphic imaging of 35nm-diamter nanowires in close-packed arrays which were produced by now graduated Dr. Madhukar Reddy.Undergraduate researcher, Sina Roughani, produced simulations that supported the imaging results.
